Behind the Name...

Battle of Cannae
Battle of Cannae
Cannae HR Solutions

The Battle of Cannae took place on August 2, 215 BC near the city of Cannae in Southeast Italy.  After leading the army of Carthage in a surprise march over the Swiss Alps, Hannibal surrounded and decisively defeated a much larger Roman army under the consuls Lucius Aemilius Paullus and Gaius Terentius Varro. The battle is regarded as one of the greatest tactical feats in military history and as one of the worst defeats in Roman history.

 

The founder of Cannae is passionate about the study of history and has long been fascinated by the battle of Cannae. He believes historical knowledge helps to understand how the world we see today came to be. More practically, a study of history instills a broader perspective on problems and opportunities and a greater ability to understand multiple points of views.
